Omar M. El-Halwagi, Esq.
(he/him/his)
At fourteen, I had to call a civil rights attorney when I was being discriminated against at school. Having had the privilege of being represented by an attorney at that age inspired me to one day become a lawyer myself in order to give others the gift of advocacy I was given.
Since then, I have dedicated myself to becoming the best possible advocate for you. I studied civil rights at a top ten public policy program and a top ten law school–the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the University of Michigan Law School, respectively. I spent my summers interning at organizations like the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and Lone Star Legal Aid, and spent time working for the City of Houston. Even in college at Texas A&M University, I was recognized by the Obama Administration as a Harry S. Truman Scholar, the preeminent public service award for college students. And upon finishing all my education, I began my legal career at Norton Rose Fulbright, one of the five largest law firms in the world, offering labor and employment guidance to Fortune 100 companies, non-profits, and academic institutions.
I now serve on the Boards of the ACLU of Texas, the Rothko Chapel, and Grassroots Islam in an effort to leverage my experiences to support organizations working to make the world more equitable and inclusive. And while I am proud of my work at other organizations, I am most excited to now work for and with you.

“I hired Omar because of his credentials. I recommend Omar because of his character. I never thought an attorney, especially one as accomplished as him, would make me feel so heard and respected throughout the process.”
